I had a little think and come up with this hot list – seven top areas to be profitable on eBay. These are consistently the most popular, time and time again, but in no particular order.

1         Sell Healthy and Beauty products on eBay

There are hundreds of items in the Health and Beauty category that you can sell: weight loss supplements, anti-aging creams and vitamins, hair care, dental care, makeup such as: lip sticks, lip gloss, nail polishes, lip balms, different face powders, mascara, foundation creams, eye-liners, eye-shadows, bronzers and blushers, scent, perfumes and cologne, moisturizers, eye cream, hair and makeup brushes and applicators, hair removal kits or razors and shaving creams, manicure kits, eyelash curlers, tweezers. And that’s not the end. You could add to this, I’m certain.

But, wherever you focus on, it makes sense to sell something which really interests you, or have some experience with.

Warning: Everyone recognizes the power for brand-names and it’s common to see them in the top sellers lists for health and beauty products but you do need to be careful. If you are looking for the best things to sell on eBay, be especially careful of Chinese suppliers who may be offering these products very cheaply; they could be fake. Fakes are everywhere, and eBay punishes you very hard if you are discovered selling these.

2         Selling Collectibles on eBay

eBay is probably the world’s best and most popular place to sell and to buy collectibles. Collectibles can include antiques, posters, ceramics, glass artifacts, books, comics, prints, matchboxes, sweet wrappers, antique jewellery, clocks, photographs and even branded things like Coca Cola bottles. Whatever you come up with, there is probably a collector somewhere.

It is possible to combine this method with bing.com cashback on Buy It Now Auctions! The details are below.

The second eBay cashback method is microsoft’s bing.com cashback program.
Currently Bing offers 8% cashback on eBay (Bing cashback can change at any time!)

Last year around Black Friday bing offered 25% for a while and increased cashback to 35% around Cyber Monday!

To be eligible for bing cashback on eBay you must purchase an item using buy it now and pay for the item
using PayPal (Maximum cashback of 0 per purchase and 00 cashback per year).

The third eBay cashback method may or may not be available to you at this time, eBay is slowly rolling it out
to everyone. The method is called ebay bucks. If you haven’t heard of it just wait and you should get a message
from ebay when your selected to participate.

Ebay bucks is completely automatic (2% cashback or more) To earn cashback with eBay bucks, just bid or buy
an item on ebay and pay with PayPal and you will get at least 2% cashback.

Your ebay bucks will accumulate untill the earning deadline (each period is 3 months).
A few days after the earning deadline has passed, ebay will send you a message explaining
how much you have earned and how to redeem your ebay bucks.

The last eBay cashback method is 1% cashback (possibly more).
I currently get 1% by using my chase ultimate rewards card as my payment method through PayPal.

Here is how I stack multiple methods
(Make sure you are using a browser that does not automatically
clear cookies or temporary internet files!)

You MUST do all these steps every time you want eBay cashback!

Step 1: Goto ebay.com and find the item you want to buy.
(For maximum eBay cashback find an item with free shipping and no tax
because you don’t get cashback on taxes or shipping charges.)
Once you have found the item you want, click the “watch this item” link. (login if necessary)

Step 2: Goto bing.com and do a search for ipod (psp, wii, ps3 or xbox are also usually good choices).
Some keywords offer a higher percentage cashback than others. (it doesn’t matter what your buying this is just to get bing to show the cashback offer in your search results)

When you find the percentage you want on bing.com,
click on the ad (You should be taken to the ebay homepage).

Step 3: Goto mrrebates and log in. Then do a search for ebay using the search box
on the front page. On the results page (you may want to bookmark this page), click on the ebay 3% cashback link.
You should be taken to the ebay homepage again.

Step 4: Goto your “my ebay” page (you should still be logged in) (if you are not logged in, try setting
your security settings to default, close all browser windows and restart the process
or use a different browser) (I use IE6 and have never had a problem.)

Step 5: In your “my ebay” click on the listing you clicked to watch.

Step 6: Click the buy it now button again (The confirmation page should still show the
microsoft bing cashback banner) (if it doesn’t DON’T CONFIRM YOUR PURCHASE,
Your bing.com cashback is not being tracked correctly!)
You need to either turn down you security settings and restart the process or
use a different browser to combine the eBay cashback methods.

If you see the bing casbback banner than you can press the confirm button to buy the item.

Step 7: Click to pay for your item and log into PayPal. If you have a rewards
card that is not on your PayPal account already, add it at this time.

Step 8: Change your funding source to your rewards card if you have one and complete your payment.

Step 9: Pay off the balance of the card you just used to avoid interest charges!

Step 10: Enjoy your cashback when you get it!

Lots of people, when they are selling online can make big eBay dropshipping profits.

It is a great way of selling as it can take out the hassle of storing stock and sending out the items.

This is attractive to people who do not have a lot of storage space or who do not want to worry about packaging and posting out items.

However, the eBay dropship profits will not be as high as if you were selling the items directly. The dropship company will charge for the services that they are providing and so you will have to consider this and make sure that you think it is worth the drop in profits.

Of course you will be saved a lot of time and effort and it is possible that you may have not even had the option of selling on eBay if you didn’t use a dropship company.

If you are looking to make good profits from eBay dropshipping then you will need to start by choosing a company which do not charge too much money for their services.

In order to assist buyers, we outlined a list of 10 useful tips for shopping on eBay.

 

1: You get what you pay for! If it is too good to be true, it probably is!
What I mean by this is.. If you are looking for a designer handbag that sells retail for thousands of dollars, then you would be foolish to think that you can buy this item on eBay for only a few hundred dollars. If you are buying expensive brand name products for far below the retail price, you should realize these items are most likely copies. They may appear to be exactly like the original products and may even be made from the same material. Some of these items may even be made in the same factory. If you will only be satisfied with 100% official licensed products, then you should avoid eBay all together and just go direct to the official retail location, or their official website.

2: Know what you are buying before you buy it! Read the terms and conditions!
Before you just go ahead and bid on an item or buy it, read the entire description. Read what the seller has written, and if there is anything you are not sure about then ask the seller to provide more information. Pay close attention to the item location, shipping cost and time of delivery. If you need an item for a gift, you should confirm with the seller first that they will be able to deliver the item on time. You don’t want to buy Christmas presents on eBay in mid to late December unless you get a guarantee that the seller can deliver before Christmas. You should not expect this unless it is advertised!

3: Pay with your credit card using paypal or another verified merchant!
You might think that you are 100% safe from scams as long as you use Paypal? We know that is what eBay and paypal would like you to believe, but it is simply not true!  If you have a problem with an item you purchased on eBay, Paypal will only refund your money if they are able to recover it from the seller. If the seller does not have money in their paypal account, paypal will not refund your purchase. They will send you an email saying that you are entitled to a refund but the seller has no money in their account and if the situation changes they will let you know. This is why you should fund all your paypal payments using your credit card. Your credit card company offers REAL buyer protection, and they will force paypal to refund you.

4: Beware of stock photos!
You should be aware that some sellers will just copy photos from the Internet. If the photos look like they have been copied from a website, you should ask for real photos. If a seller is not capable of taking their own photos, it is unlikely they are providing good service.

5: Be professional! Avoid using threats and foul language!
If there is a problem with your purchase, you should let the seller know. You want to be as polite as possible, you don’t need to be angry and threatening. The seller is aware that you can leave negative feedback if you are not satisfied, so they will most likely try their best to satisfy you in order to avoid that. However if you start off by threatening the seller and using foul language, it will not help motivate the seller to help you resolve your issue. If you are reasonable and you are not asking for anything more than what you paid for, the seller will most likely offer a return, replacement or a refund.

6: Negative Feedback , this should be used as a last resort only !
Leaving a seller negative feedback is a serious matter, you should use it only as a last resort. If the seller has not made any reasonable effort to resolve your issue, or if the item never arrived and the seller simply refuses to reply to your emails,you might want to leave the seller negative feedback for the transaction. This can cost sellers literally thousands of dollars in lost sales and create many problems for them. So before you leave negative feedback, you should take that into consideration. You might be costing somebody hundreds or thousands of dollars, and they might get upset. They already have your name, address and phone number as well as your email address. You can expect to get several angry emails or phone calls if you leave a negative feedback that the seller feels is not justified.  Another thing to consider is that these people do this for a living. Chances are that they are far more Internet savvy than you are. If these people want to create problems for you , they probably can! 99% of the time, it is just not worth it.

7: Protect your password, watch out for spoof emails!
Be very careful with your passwords for eBay and paypal. Using the same password for all your email accounts and everything you sign up for will increase the chances of someone getting a hold of it. You should never use the same password for important things like eBay and paypal as you use for signing up for some forum or website that you don’t know anything about. If you sign up for a forum using the same email and password you use for Paypal, whoever can access that information can try signing into eBay and paypal with that information. Never sign into your account if you have been directed to a sign up page from an email. If you get an email that appears to be from paypal or eBay and it asks you to sign in, close it immediately open a new window and go direct to the eBay or Paypal site.Always go direct to the home page and sign in from there. Anything important from eBay or paypal should be visible when you sign in.

8: Do not sign into your eBay or paypal account from a public computer!
Signing into your eBay or paypal account from a public computer can cause problems. If the computer has a virus or spy ware then your password can be stolen. The computer may have also been used by somebody else who has been suspended from eBay. If this is the case they will suspend your account as well.

9: Buy from trusted sellers with a selling history!

eBay selling is a huge phenomenon that has become popular all around the world! Somewhere in the world at any one time, profits are being made by those enterprising sellers who have started their own eBay businesses.

There are thousands of people who make a full time living from eBay selling (and many who do it part time just for some extra cash). These people are proving that running an eBay business is extremely profitable, so long as it is done correctly right from the start.

But first things first! If you have not already done so, then you must create an eBay account right now so that you are ready to start your eBay selling career.

Opening an eBay account is pretty simple. In three easy steps you can be up and running as an eBay seller today!

First, go to the eBay home page, click register and follow the simple instructions. Choose a unique user name and a unique password. Read the Terms of Service agreement and click the box to agree. You will receive a confirmation email which you must respond to in order to activate your eBay account.

Next you must create a payment account. The most secure and easy option for accepting payments is to open a PayPal account. PayPal offers protection for eBay buyers and ebay sellers. It also offers free auction tools for sellers. Go to the Paypal home page and sign up.

Step three is to create an eBay selling account. When you post your first listing you will need a credit or debit card to verify your identity and at this time you can choose how you want to pay your eBay selling fees. Payment options include one-time payment of fees taken from your PayPal account or you let your selling fees build up and then pay automatically via credit card, direct debit or PayPal once a month.

Once you have done these three important things you are set up ready to go! You will now need to consider exactly what you are going to sell and where you are going to source it from at the best possible price. You must also consider storage options if you intend to stock bulky items.
